Welder qualification failures remain a preventable cost
Testing against the WPS before mobilisation, rather than at the gate, removes one of the most common causes of early-stage crew churn.
Failed qualification tests at site are expensive twice over: the mobilisation cost is sunk, and the vacancy still has to be filled against the same deadline.
Testing to the project's own WPS before travel, with an independent inspector present, filters out the majority of these cases at a fraction of the cost.
Where a discipline is scarce, pre-qualification also gives the project an accurate picture of the real available pool rather than a nominal one.
